Thomas Sorber (2024-2025)

Thomas Sorber, ranked 51st overall for the Class of 2024, committed to Georgetown as a junior from Archbishop Ryan in Philadelphia.

"I chose Georgetown because when I first stepped on that campus, it just felt like home," the 6-9 Sorber told Joe Tipton at On3.com. "It's a great program for both basketball and academics." Averaging 17.8 points and 11.2 rebounds last season at Archbishop Ryan in Philadelphia, PA. Sorber was the first Georgetown signee from the Philadelphia Catholic League since Bill McGarrity in 1967.

Though projected to be a capable freshman, Sorber learned quickly and the college basketball world took notice. He opened his freshman season with a combined 45 points and 22 rebounds in games with Lehigh and Fairfield, and achieved a distinctive double-double with 14 points and 13 assists versus Albany--an assist record for a Georgetown center. During a five game run in January 2025, Sorber averaged 13 points and 12 rebounds a game, with a season's best 25 points and 15 rebounds at Providence. A six time Big East Freshman of the Week, Sorber's season was cut short with a foot injury at Butler on February 15, the third player lost to a foot injury in the season. Georgetown lost five of its next seven and did not contend for NCAA Tournament consideration thereafter.

Despite not being able to practice, Sorber's promise grew among NBA scouts, who foretold a first round selection despite just 24 games in a Georgetown uniform. Sorber placed his name in draft contention to receive scouring evaluation despite an inability to compete in workouts or the NBA Combine, and formally opted for the draft at the conclusion of the NCAA eligibility window in May 2025.
